If you have never had a website designed before, or are new to the Internet, starting a new online presence can be intimidating. Even if you are currently have a website and are seeking a redesign, the presence of all of the options out there can be daunting. The purpose of this article is to prepare you for the steps that will happen during website creation and what we'll need from you to make your website the best it can be.
Initial Consultation
We will first begin by asking you about your business. Is it product or service based, or both? What is your target market? What are your expectations for the site? What is your budget? If you don't know the answer to all of these questions up front, that's fine. We will help you answer them as we prepare a solution for you. Most of our first time website customers come to us not even knowing what price they want to charge or what kind of market they'll be going after. We provide limited consulting in this area and can give you a perspective as to what works and what doesn't. The main part of the initial consultation though is obtaining information from you. The more information we have about your business and goals, the more comprehensive and efficient the site will be.
We will propose a package that fits your needs, and if you approve, we will ask you to assemble any materials we'll need to start working on your site. For example, if you want to start a basic website, we will need any company graphics or logos you may have. To sell products online, you'll need to start collecting pictures of the products you have, and work out an ordering policy (if you don't already have one) to cover returns and shipping methods. If you don't have all of this together or need some help, we'll be glad to assist you.
The Layout and Template
In most cases, we create the website template. This is the "shell" of the site, how it will look, without the content. Once we're finished, we show it to you for approval. If you wish to make any changes, we'll perform those changes. If major changes are required to make the site look how you want, that's not a problem. We are committed to ensure that you are satisfied with the final product.
Once the template is done, we can start adding content. Most of our clients have information they want us to add, but if you need us to write some material, we offer that service as well.
Site Completion and Final "Walkthrough"
When the site is complete, we will ask you to go over it to make sure that everything meets with your approval. We will help you finish any final steps that need to take place for the site to launch. Once you're ready to launch, we will test the site extensively to ensure there are no problems. After that, and at your approval, we launch!
